Caring For Your Whiplash

What is Whiplash anyway?

Whiplash is a neck injury due to forceful, rapid back-and-forth movement of the neck, like the cracking of a whip. It can be caused by but not limited to:

  • Rear End Accidents - most common cause

  • Sports Accidents

  • Physical Abuse

  • Falls

When your head is forcefully and quickly thrown backward and then forward, the motion can injure bones in the spine, disks between the bones, ligaments, muscles, nerves and other tissues of the neck.

It is imperative to get assessed as soon as possible, some people can show no symptoms of injury or trauma but still have damage done to the neck causing misalignment. If left untreated this can cause issues down the line, with symptoms showing up in other areas besides the neck. Most people with whiplash get better within a few weeks by following a treatment plan. However, some people have chronic neck pain and other long-lasting complications.

Signs and symptoms of whiplash usually develop within days of the injury, and may include:

At Jubilee we are here to help whole families heal. Whether, you are 2-years-old or 90-years-old, we advise everyone to get evaluated who may have been a victim of whiplash.

Most professionals will overlook children. And yes, while children heal at an extremely fast pace it is still imperative to have them evaluated. Trauma last in the body for a long time and left untreated can lead to other issues and complications down the road.
